HISTORY OF CALIFORNIA WESTERN FINANCIAL INVESTMENTS, INC.

     George H. Getz started a mortgage company in 1948, later to be named Richey and Getz. This company arranged loans for Life Insurance Companies, Savings and Loans, FHA/VA, and construction loan with banks.

     In 1957, Gordon Getz became licensed in Real Estate and began working in his father's mortgage business while completing his college education.

     In the late 1960's, the company changed its name to George Getz and Son and bought out Frank Richey. Gordon during this period was the exclusive agent in the South Bay for California Federal Savings and Loan plus other S/L's and financial institutions.

     Gordon met his wife, Caroline, in 1961 at California State University Long Beach. In 1963 they were married. Caroline taught elementary school and Gordon continued in mortgage lending. In 1968, after adding two sons to their family, Caroline became licensed in Real Estate and began working at Walker and Lee Real Estate. Gordon became a Real Estate Broker in 1968.

     George Getz and Son became Gordon Getz and Associates and they took on Property Management of over 1000 units is addition to the Mortgage Company. In 1974, with increased equity in Real Estate, they began to make 2nd Trust Deeds primarily for property improvement. This was the start of the private money investment department. Caroline became a Real Estate Broker in 1974.

     Gordon Getz and Associates later became California Western Financial Corp. as Gordon bought his father out. George Getz remained working for the company in the private money investment division until he retired in 1984. Caroline Getz worked side by side with George in the private money lending business.

     Gordon and Caroline expanded their business interests by purchasing a Red Carpet Franchise under the name of California Western Financial Investments, Inc. dba Getz Realty Company in 1974. This was a very successful office with 40 Real Estate agents. Gordon was broker and Caroline was office manager and Financial Officer. They achieved a status of 4th in the Nation in sales during their ownership of the franchise. They sold the office in 1980. They continued working under California Western Financial Investments, Inc. specializing in multiple units, commercial properties and tax deferred exchanges. The companies worked side-by-side, one in Real Estate Sales and the other in private money lending.

     The California Western Financial companies moved to their present location in 1980. The lending business became their primary focus specializing in loan servicing and gaining experience in collections, foreclosures, management and REO's. This education came from real life transactions during the down market of the early 1980's and again in the early to mid 1990's. Both Caroline and Gordon are Real Estate Brokers and have taken extensive classes regarding most Real Estate subjects. California Western Financial Investments is currently a member of the California Mortgage Association, an organization that provides on going courses presented by recognized and knowledgeable speakers.  Gordon currently is serving on the Board of Directors of this organization.  They provide regular legislative updates regarding the laws affecting the mortgage industry and keep the company current in documentation and business processes.
